Troopers say they found Lester Wilde Jr.'s sedan broken in two after it struck a motorhome head-on near Turnagain Pass in August, with a passenger dead in the front seat and the speedometer stopped at 110 mph.
An Anchorage man stands accused of killing his passenger in a head-on collision on the Seward Highway last summer, during which prosecutors say he was impaired by marijuana.
When a responding trooper reached the crash, another driver had placed a blue tarp over the front of the sedan, covering Andrews’ body. Wilde spoke with troopers at an Anchorage hospital, and he said he had been driving back from a canceled fishing trip to Kenai. He estimated his speed during the collision at 70 mph and said the sedan had hydroplaned due to ruts and a wet road surface.
