The Highway Code rule could see drivers also issued a fine for passing through a speed camera and - it's not directly related to speed
Speeding remains a significant issue on UK roads, with speed cameras installed across various locations to tackle the problem. These cameras can be found on residential streets with a 30mph limit, as well as on dual carriageways and motorways where the limit is 60mph or 70mph.
Regardless of the type of speed camera, the penalty for speeding remains the same - a minimum fine of £100 and three penalty points on your licence. However, a lesser-known Highway Code rule could see drivers fined for passing through a speed camera, even if they're not speeding. According to Rule 110 of the Highway Code, a driver should use their vehicle's headlights only to make others aware of their presence, not to convey messages or intimidate. The rule states: "Only flash your headlights to let other road users know that you are there. Do not flash your headlights to convey any other message or intimidate other road users.", reports Birmingham Live.
