It tells the tale of a pair of ne’er-do-wells who put together a classically ragtag bunch to steal some treasure, slay a dragon , and form their own outsider solidarity along the way. The film uses the familiar vernacular of role-playing games and has fun with it, with its bards, barbarians, paladins and sorcerers. It has its cake and eats it with the fantasy world of magic, goblins, and monsters it depicts, employing the same cliches it will later poke fun at.
