The Department for Work and Pensions has revealed that 6.7 million people across Great Britain are currently receiving monthly financial support through Universal Credit. This benefit, which is means-tested, aims to assist those who are unemployed or on a low income with their daily living expenses.
The DWP stated that verifying a claimant's identity "helps to link the right person to the right claim and reduce identity fraud ". It's crucial to note that Universal Credit no longer utilises Government Gateway or GOV.UK Verify for online verification, reports the Daily Record. If you're able to confirm your identity online, you might not require the complete 'initial evidence interview'.
