A huge 'managed migration' to Universal Credit is underway, which will see six legacy benefits phased out

The Department for Work and Pensions is set to give an extra two weeks' payments to thousands of people on four benefits.

This will only occur if they still meet the eligibility criteria for their existing benefit, reports NottinghamshireLive. If you receive income-based Jobseeker's Allowance , income-related Employment and Support Allowance , Income Support or Housing Benefit, these are paid every two weeks. It typically takes five weeks to get your first Universal Credit payment. After that, it will come on the same date each month, unless this falls on a weekend or bank holiday. In those cases, it would go into your account on the nearest working day before.

You can only get this if you've been sent a letter telling you to switch to Universal Credit and you do it by the date on the letter. You can't get it if you choose to move to Universal Credit yourself. If things change after you've claimed, any extra help you get might stop.
