The DWP has published a full list of ID documents new claimants will need to take with them to the Jobcentre if they are invited to attend a face-to-face interview
The Department for Work and Pensions has shared new information for individuals intending to apply for Universal Credit in the UK. A total of 6.7million people in the UK are currently claiming Universal Credit and there are several steps you must take to start receiving your regular payments.
One of these preliminary steps includes verifying your identity. According to DWP guidelines, this process of identity verification is crucial to ensuring that the right individual is linked to the right claim and helps to minimise the risk of identity fraud. There are a number of ways through which you can verify your identity for Universal Credit including online identity verification, face-to-face appointments, documentary evidence, and biographical interviews.
In a new update, the DWP has released a comprehensive list of ID documents that new claimants will be required to carry with them to the Jobcentre for their scheduled face-to-face interview. Claimants will need to provide three pieces of evidence in order to verify their identity during this face-to-face interview - one form of photo ID, one proof of address, and another piece of documentation serving as "further proof of identity", reports the Mirror.
The DWP said: "Depending on your circumstances, details of what evidence you need to provide will be discussed with you when you apply for Universal Credit." Below we have detailed the updated list of acceptable ID documents necessary for establishing your identity when applying for Universal Credit.Proof of address This can include any of the following:Current debit, credit, or store card with a statement confirming the details on the cardFor more information about applying for Universal Credit, visit the GOV.UK website here.
