The incident left one victim's hand 'severed' and another needing surgery after neighbours awoke to screams and calls for help and raised the alarm, scaring the attackers off.
Neighbours in East Kilbride say they have been left living in fear following a horror machete gang attack in the close-knit community.
The neighbour said: "I woke up to screams asking for help and for the police and ambulance to be phoned. The concerned mum believes the victims were sitting down to dinner when the masked intruders entered the home and demanded cash. One managed to escape and call for help, causing the attackers to flee through the front door and run off in the direction of Whinfell Drive.
