The East Pennsboro High School football team is off to their first 6-0 start in nine years, and one of the key reasons for that is the play of senior Keith Oates III.Oates starts at quarterback and linebacker for the Panthers, leading the team in both touchdowns and tackles. “I’ve always been a two-way player, I’ve never really thought of only playing one way,” Oates said. “I mean, I’ve always looked at a football player as someone who plays both sides of the football.
“You got to be able to be tough to play both ways. A lot of us embrace that as part of our game, and we hate coming off the field,” Oates said. He credits offensive line play and great play calling as the reason he’s thrown for over 1,200 yards this season, and on the other side of the ball, it’s their mentality as a defensive unit that has made them so successful.“Our goal is to make teams not want to play against us for all 48 minutes,” Oates said.
