EastEnders' Cindy Beale is finally returning to the famous Square in just a matter of days for the first time in 25 years, and she turns up just as her daughter is about to turn 21
The BBC soap confirmed that she was returning earlier this year when she appeared on the show but from a foreign country with Ian and Peter Beale.
The programme description for that date reads: "After 25 years away, Cindy arrives back in the square, the Knights excitedly prepare for Anna’s surprise 21st birthday in the Vic, and there are fireworks as Kathy comes face to face with a ghost from her past." It quickly became clear when they arrived that the family had a secret to hide – that George has a long-lost wife, who is also the mother of his children Anna and Gina.Speculation mounted about who Rose could be until she was confirmed as Cindy Beale in June.
During the episode, which showed Cindy abroad, she was given the news that she was no longer under witness protection, and that meant she was back to Cindy rather than Rose.
