EastEnders fans were left fuming on Monday, when Ben Mitchell deliberately went against dying Lola Pearce’s wishes to tell daughter Lexi that her mother was dying.
Clearly shocked by the news, Lexi couldn’t hide her anger and heartache at what she was being told, as Lola had previously said she would be able to attend her high school taster day in just a few weeks time, something that now looks increasingly unlikely. However in one startling twist, he did continue to vow to do everything in his power to make sure Lola survived long enough to attend the taster day - and even Lexi’s first day at high school in September, something both he and Jay know isn't likely.
While a third soon commented: "Ben giving Lexi false hope there was not the one. He took that chance from Lola & made Lexi angry with her dying mum. Not on." In recent weeks, Lola has been told her cancer had progressed, with doctors revealing that her last round of chemotherapy had failed to stop the tumour, with all medical options now exhausted.
