OPINION: Easter reminds Christians how resurrection resonates in our past, present and future
He would send His only Son, Jesus – as God in the flesh – to this world to ultimately go to the cross to pay the penalty for our shortcomings and failures.
Only by placing our trust in Him for the forgiveness of our sin can we be reunited with Him, both now and in eternity. And because Jesus Christ came back from the grave, demonstrating his power over sin and death, we know that His promises are true. Most people are surprised that the resurrection has anything to do with the present.
As we read in 2 Corinthians 5:17,"Old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new." How does that happen? It happens because God’s spirit indwells us and fills us with the power of the resurrection. Not only does Christ’s resurrection affect our past and present, it’s the guarantee of our future.
The resurrection is not just something we celebrate once a year at Easter with our families. The resurrection is the most important doctrine of the Bible. Because if Jesus didn’t do what He said He would do , we would be left with empty promises.

Bold and Blunt: He Is Risen! An Easter Story of FaithChristians around the world are celebrating one of the holiest, if not the holiest, times of year for believers -- Easter -- which recognizes the sacrifices of Jesus Christ on the cross, when he died for all of humanity's sins and then was resurrected three days later. But even for steadfast believers there are certain stories in the Bible the prove a challenge to faith. One of them is the Genesis account of God telling Abraham to sacrifice his son, Isaac. At the last second, God stayed his command and prevented Abraham from inflicting the fatal stab. But Christians nonetheless wonder: Why did God order Abraham to sacrifice his son, anyway? Isn't that evidence of God's cruelty? And for the non-believer, this biblical story has historically proven a sticking point. Now comes a new movie about just this story to show a) God is not cruel and b) God loves his creations and would never harm them. David Helling discusses 'His Only Son,' a movie in nearly 2,000 theaters in America about the famous Genesis story.
