Ed Sheeran’s co-writer Ben Kweller has shared the heartbreaking news that his 16 year old son, Dorian, was “killed” – but failed to share the nature of the teenager’s passing
The American singer and songwriter, who works closely with Ed Sheeran and was the Perfect hitmaker’s opening act on his 2019 tour, announced the heartbreaking news on Instagram yesterday, Tuesday 28 February, alongside a photograph of Dorian.“Our son, Dorian Zev Kweller, was killed last night. He was only 16 and he was a true legend. Kindest, gentle soul, a friend to all. If you knew him, you know. We’ll never get over him as long as we’re here on earth.
Apparently Dorian’s first gig was set to take place in just two weeks time, with the last text shared between him and his dad being about the merchandise he wanted to make. “My baby boy was at the starting line with so much life ahead of him…” Ben’s devastating post went on. “I have no idea why things like this happen. We’re in complete shock and don’t know what the future holds. Lizzy, Judah, and I have no idea how to deal with this disaster. Thank you for your prayers and support and we apologize if we are slow to respond to messages.”Model Lily Aldridge led the messages, writing: “I’m so very sorry. This is heartbreaking beyond comprehension. Sending you all love and prayers. love you all so very much”.
“Sending so much love Ben, x,” added Dermot O’Leary, as dozens of others of Ben’s industry friends echoed similar sentiments.“This is absolutely heartbreaking. I didn’t have the privilege of knowing him but I cried when I read this. Sending our deepest condolences to you and your dear family,” wrote another.The teenager’s untimely death comes just days after the release of his song Hickeys, which is available to stream on Spotify and Apple Music.
