With the Fringe Festival bringing hundreds of thousands of visitors to Edinburgh, renowned travel magazine Condé Nast Traveller has revealed a list of the 'best' restaurants in the city.
With the Edinburgh Fringe Festival kicking off, the streets of Scotland's capital city will be flooded with locals and tourists alike. Millions of people are expected to visit the city throughout the month, which means many will be looking for places to eat out.
According to the renowned publication, Lyla is among the "best fine dining and Michelin-starred restaurants" in the city. The luxury eatery, situated on Royal Terrace, specialises in line caught fish and sustainable shellfish sourced from the Scottish Isles. Elsewhere, another fine dining establishment in Edinburgh singled out by Condé Nast Traveller is Avery on St Stephen Street. With room for only 20 customers at a time, the restaurant offers an intimate and personalised experience for each guest.
Meanwhile, for those after a more casual dining experience, Condé Nast Traveller praised The Palmerston restaurant and bakery. Beloved amongst regulars for its old-fashioned decor and daily-changing menu of locally sourced dishes, highlights include lemon sole with grilled sprouting broccoli, salsify, cider, and cream and roast Berkshire pork loin with fennel and parmesan gratin, castelfranco and sage.
