Eight killed as huge fire rips through former Russian research institute
AT least eight people have been killed after a fire ripped through a former Russian research institute and left them trapped.
Chilling images show black smoke engulfing the structure in the city of Fryazino - located outside Moscow. According to the ministry the flames spread rapidly across 5,000 square meters before the interior structures of the building collapsed and an explosion was heard asThose at the top of the building could find no means of escaping the roaring inferno and one man was shown jumping from the upper floor of the building by the Baza Telegram channel.
The Russian Emergency Ministry press office told local media: "The extinguishing operation is complicated by the presence of gas-air mix canisters inside the building."
