The winners of Tripadvisor's Best of the Best Restaurants as part of its 2023 Travellers’ Choice Awards have been revealed, and a number of Scottish destinations are included.
Tripadvisor has crowned the best restaurants in the world as part of its Travellers’ Choice Award for 2023, including eight spots in Scotland.
The awards, which celebrate the world's top restaurants according to Tripadvisor reviewers, are divided into six categories: Fine Dining, Everyday Eats, Date Night, Hidden Gems, and two new subcategories for 2023, Family-Friendly and Vegetarian-Friendly Restaurants. Overall, Edinburgh dominated the winners for Scotland, with four of the eight winners in the country being situated in the capital. Mashed potatoes specialists Makars Gourmet Mash Bar, brasserie Dine, and Howies Waterloo Place all placed in the UK top 10 in the Everyday Eats category — at number four, eight, and nine respectively.
The final Scottish winner at the awards is Gurkha Bar and Restaurant Musselburgh in East Lothian, which placed at number five in the UK for Hidden Gem spots. The Nepalese restaurant is the first of its kind in Musselburgh, serving up authentic Nepalese and Indian dishes.
