Check out this week's Press Run for news about the latest members to be inducted into the Shaker Schools Alumni Hall of Fame; the marking of the Mandel Jewish Community Center's 75th anniversary; a book talk at the Shaker Library with Burt W. Griffin about the JFK assassination; and more.
The Mandel Jewish Community Center will host its annual meeting Sept. 13, a very special date for The J. The event, themed “Your Story Shapes Our Journey,” will be held on the 75th anniversary of the date the organization filed its articles of incorporation.
Present at the event will be: Carnie Rose, Mandel JCC President and CEO; Joe Schillero, Mandel JCC Senior Director of Wellness and Engagement; Mitch Balk, Mt. Sinai Health Foundation President; and Rachel Oscar, Mt. Sinai Health Foundation Program Officer. The technology is designed to improve movement quality for an aging population, provide recovery and improved performance, reduce low back pain, assist with surgery recovery for those undergoing physical therapy, reduce anxiety and stress, and improve sleep.
The Mandel JCC offers a fitness center featuring more than 200 pieces of cardio, free-weight and specialty equipment, including two weightlifting platforms. It also offers more than 35 group exercise formats, including yoga, tai chi, cycle, kickboxing, cardio sculpt and barre; Pilates reformer and mat classes; pickleball, racquetball, basketball and wallyball courts; an indoor track; and indoor and outdoor pools, saunas, whirlpools and steam rooms.
Hollywood’s golden statuettes were about the unlikeliest prizes that Allen, a shy, retiring industry outsider based in New York, could win. Yet they’re a measure of the widespread respect that the young writer and director commanded in those early days. The event is sponsored with support from the Jewish Federation’s Cleveland Israel Arts Connection, as part of the Jewish community’s yearlong celebration of Israel at 75.
