Holmes, 38, is scheduled to be sentenced on November 18, and faces up to 20 years in prison for each count. Holmes’ lawyers pointed out she started the health tech company—which was accused of claiming its machines could perform tests Holmes and other executives knew it could not—when she was only 19, and “for the rest of her life, she and her family will be punished.”
Holmes’ former business partner Ramesh “Sunny” Balwani, whom she was also reported to have a relationship with, was found guilty in July of 12 counts of wire fraud and conspiracy to commit wire fraud.
