San Francisco's Department of Building Inspection is reaching out to building representatives at Twitter's headquarters in order to conduct a site inspection, department spokesperson Patrick Hannan told SFGATE. If inspectors find that the space no longer meets building code, they'll issue a notice of violation.
Buildings used for residential purposes have different codes than office spaces, including those used for short-term stays, Hannan said. "These codes make sure people are using spaces safely. Everyone in San Francisco deserves a safe place to live, work, play and sleep and no one is above the law," Hannan said. He added that the department expects to initiate the investigation within 72 hours.
