Emmerdale fans were left struggling to watch the ITV soap after evil Tom King ran over Belle's dog Piper in a bid to control his estranged wife - with many threatening to switch off
Emmerdale fans were left horrified as Tom King's actions took an even darker turn, running over Piper the dog in distressing scenes that aired tonight, Friday 16 August.
Fans didn't hold back on Twitter, which is now called X, with one commenting: "# Emmerdale Tom running the dog over. What a horrible little man. Belle needs to get as far away him as possible," while another said: "When you start by warning of animal cruelty it's a switch off from me #emmerdale", reports the Mirror.
Amid the storyline, the team at Emmerdale have been working closely with the charities Refuge and The Dogs Trust. ITV have released a statement which says: "No dog was harmed in the making of these scenes and viewers can watch a behind the scenes of all these scenes next Monday on the Emmerdale socials."
"We’ve heard of perpetrators not letting survivors walk their dogs alone, stopping them from accessing vet care for their dogs or being able to spend money on dog food, and even repeatedly threatening to harm or kill their dogs.
