Emmerdale viewers think they’ve rumbled a key link in Matty Barton’s prison storyline after he was nearly attacked by a vicious transphobe while serving time for stabbing Samson
Emmerdale fans think they’ve rumbled a key link between Cain Dingle and Matty Barton’s new cellmate Les.
The ITV soap recently aired worrying scenes when his wife Amy accidentally outed Matty as a trans man to his transphobic fellow inmate Robbo. Les managed to protect Matty the first time, but was later released from jail – leaving Matty to fend for himself. A brutal attack left him fighting for his life, and Matty lied that he was beaten up by transphobic thugs.
Fans, however, think they’ve exposed a key connection between Les, the perpetrator of the staged attack, and Matty’s step-dad Cain – after he seemed to recognise the name when it was brought up in prison. Fans think the pair might have shared a cell when Cain was incarcerated. Somebody else said: “I just have a feeling Les is going to break his licence conditions deliberately to end up back inside. I can picture it now, him returning to the cell just in time to stop Matty getting hurt again!”
