Disney's Encanto gets the Honest Trailer treatment, and it debates whether the Madrigals have gifts... or curses. In just a handful of months, Encanto has become the animated sensation of both 2021 and 2022. Directed by Jared Bush and Byron Howard, and co-directed by Charise Castro Smith, the movie revolves around the Madrigal family and their magical home.
Encanto debuted in November to positive reviews and solid numbers at the box office. As of the time of this writing, it has earned $224 million worldwide; that number is likely to grow, as Disney is sending Encanto back to theaters to celebrate its current success. The movie is also available on Disney+, and it's because of that streaming availability that Encanto has become such an international sensation.
While fans can certainly debate the nitty-gritty of certain aspects of Encanto, there's no question that it is one of the best Disney movies to arrive in a while, and it has a lot to love. Between its unique story, colorful animation, and delightful soundtrack, Encanto deserves all the love it has been receiving from fans. Though some people could probably do without listening to"Bruno" for a long, long time, there's still a lot to appreciate about this heartfelt movie.
