England must meet New Zealand's standards when they face the world champions at Twickenham next weekend, head coach John Mitchell says.

England must meet New Zealand's standards when they face the world champions at Twickenham next weekend, head coach John Mitchell has said.England, the world number one side, began their preparations to defend their WXV1 title with a comfortable 38-19 win over France on Saturday, but Mitchell said they would have to improve against the Black Ferns.

"It's always good to take a win, but it's also good that we have got some problems as well," said Mitchell. "We made a couple of mistakes, so we have just got to tidy that up. We probably could get a little bit quicker to the breakdown as well.England scored six tries as they stretched their winning run over Les Bleus to 14 games, and Mitchell said he wants to continue building trust in his players when they host New Zealand next Saturday.

England captain Marlie Packer has been a committed servant to her country, and the experienced flanker kickstarted the win over France with the opening try."France and had a good 10 minutes within that, but we just needed to make sure we stuck to our processes that we worked on over pre-season.Victory over their Six Nations rivals launched England into a year that will culminate with a home World Cup next summer, and Packer said their next test needs no build-up.
