The Manchester United manager has been outspoken in recent days and one pundit has taken issue with some of his latest comments.
It’s been a significant seven days for Erik ten Hag and Manchester United, with Sir Jim Ratcliffe deciding to stick with the Dutchman for next season.
The left-back hasn't played since February due to injury but has been taken to Germany by Southgate amid a dearth of options in his position. It had been hoped he would be able to return against Denmark on Thursday but there are fears his return could be further delayed. MEN Sport’s Isaac Johnson says: England can probably survive without Shaw throughout the group stages but the real problem comes in the knockouts. Shaw may be back for then but will not be match fit and it would be remarkable to see him complete a full 90 minutes before a potential semi-final.
But speaking this weekend, Ten Hag said England were so passive against Serbia due to “the vision of the manager”, adding that he purposely resorts to “making his team compact and relying on moments for the remaining minutes of the game."
