One of the freshly released photographs shows a breathtakingly detailed view of the Perseus Cluster, located around 240 million light-years from Earth. This image not only depicts 1,000 galaxies from the Perseus Cluster, but it also shows as many as 100,000 additional galaxies in the background.“This is the first time that such a large image has allowed us to capture so many Perseus galaxies in such a high level of detail,” mentioned the release.
Other include the glimpses of an irregular dwarf galaxy called NGC 6822, located 1.6 million light-years from Earth. After this initial release, the Euclid Consortium will extensively evaluate the scientific images, which include a plethora of astronomical data. Euclid's ambitious goal also includes investigating the profound questions of universe expansion and the dispersion of large-scale structures throughout the fabric of space and time.
