O'Neill says Casement Stadium gives Northern Ireland the opportunity to be part of the bid
Michael O'Neill says the opportunity to host and be part of a major tournament would be an "amazing experience" for Northern Ireland.
“We talked about it before, the opportunity to host and be part of a tournament will be an amazing experience," said the Northern Ireland boss.“We want to be part of the bid, Casement gives us the opportunity to be part of the bid, so that’s where we have to go with it. It does look, in pictures, a lovely stadium – it looks fantastic.
“To be part of the bid and hopefully to play home games here [in Belfast] in a major tournament would be a great thing. “Hopefully when everything is concluded next week then it’s something for everyone to look forward to.” O'Neill is confident that Northern Ireland will have a squad strong enough to secure a place at the finals.
