The Scottish Government is consulting on proposals to slap unauthorised street sellers and online touts with fines of up to £20,000 in four years' time.
Shameless football ticket touts are set to be targeted in a crackdown ahead of Euro 2028 when it comes to Scotland.
Hampden is one of ten host stadiums for the blockbuster footie event which will be played in England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland. Members of the public and firms are being asked for their views on how effective measures to tackle touts were during Euro 2020, which was delayed to summer 2021 because of Covid.
Europe Minister Kaukab Stewart said: “Glasgow has become one of the world’s top cities for staging major sporting events, and Euro 2028 will follow in the footsteps of the recent World Athletics Indoor Championships.“This valuable consultation underlines our commitment to protecting Scottish people from the threat of ticket touts, ensuring fair and equitable access to Euro 2028 games in Scotland.
