Everton analysis after the 4-0 defeat to Aston Villa in the Premier League at Villa Park
Everton are still searching for their first point of the Premier League season after a sorry 4-0 thrashing at Aston Villa but if the Blues were unfortunate against Fulham at Goodison Park eight days earlier when their profligacy cost them dearly in what was a smash-and-grab win for the visitors, they very much found themselves second best in the West Midlands.
The centre-forward suffered an early collision with Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez when the pair both collapsed in a heap after going for the same Abdoulaye Doucoure cross. Villa’s dynamic attacking play had the Blues looking nervy from the first minute and they broke the deadlock 18 minutes into the contest when Leon Bailey dashed up the right wing and picked out captain John McGinn who fired in from close range.
