Ex-FBI supervisory agent Jared Wise arrested on Capitol riot charges
says security camera video captured Wise inside the Capitol on Jan. 6, when a mob of Donald Trump supporters disrupted the joint session of Congress for certifying President Joe Biden’s 2020 electoral victory.
Wise clapped his hands and raised his arms ”in triumph” after he entered the building through the Senate wing door, the affidavit says. He left the building about nine minutes after entering. Nearly two hours later, police body camera footage showed Wise berating police officers outside the Capitol and repeatedly shouting, “Shame on you!”
“You guys are disgusting,” he told them. “I’m former law enforcement. You’re disgusting. You are the Nazi. You are the Gestapo. You can’t see it.”A federal magistrate judge ordered Wise’s release from custody after his initial court appearance in Eugene, Oregon, on Monday. Wise lived in New Braunfels, Texas, until June 2022 before moving to Bend, Oregon, the affidavit says.More than 100 officers were injured during the Jan. 6 riot. Over 1,000 people have been charged with federal crimes related to the Capitol siege.
