A former Stirling hotel worker who came to the city in the 1950s from Barbados under a government scheme to offer jobs to residents of the Caribbean nation is looking to reconnect with old colleagues when she comes to Stirling next week.
Muriel Best arrived in the city in 1955 and worked in Stirling ’s Allan Park Hotel. Now she’s set for a return visit as part of a short documentary.
Muriel and Lottie Bynoe were just two of the women recruited whilst home in Barbados to work in Stirling. She will visit the city from June 11-14 and will be making her journey of ‘return and discovery’ of which a short documentary is being made.A strong Christian, she has been invited to attend the ‘Friendship Group’ at Allan Park Church whilst in the city.
