Former Manchester United superstar Cristiano Ronaldo's body transformation inspired his teammates to work harder in training, according to former Red Danny Drinkwater.
Announcing his retirement from the game on The High Performance Podcast, Drinkwater looked back over his career in professional football, which saw him win the Premier League title with Leicester City and an FA Cup with Chelsea after departing United in 2012.ALSO READ: Manchester United ignored the warnings with Sofyan Amrabat
Speaking on the High Performance Podcast, Drinkwater said: "There was this one summer. Cristiano Ronaldo had been there for nine or ten months. The season ended and he left that summer and he wasn't this big machine, he was like a thin, young teenager as it was.
