Angel Gomes was involved in a sickening collision during Lille's Ligue 1 game against Reims on Saturday
Former Manchester United midfielder Angel Gomes has been hospitalised following a severe head injury sustained while playing for French side Lille.
Lille's squad formed a protective circle around the former United prodigy as fans from both sides chanted his name for a full 10 minutes. Gomes was subsequently stretchered off and transported by ambulance. The match against Reims marked the start of Gomes' fourth season in Ligue 1 with Lille.
Last summer, he clinched the under-21 European Championship with England, delivering standout performances in midfield under new interim Three Lions boss Lee Carsley.
