Former Ajax star Quincy Promes jailed for 18 months
Former Ajax and Sevilla forward Quincy Promes has been jailed for 18 months after stabbing his cousin.
The 31-year-old, who currently plays for Russian side Spartak Moscow, was found guilty of assault, but cleared of attempted murder charges.He was originally arrested in December 2020 regarding the incident that took place in July of that year.He was not present at the court in Amsterdam, however, with the forward currently residing in Russia.
The court manager said: "Promes shows no insight into his behaviour. That is extremely worrying and serious."Promes is currently in his second spell with Spartak Moscow, having spent four seasons there between 2014 and 2018. He spent one season with Sevilla, before heading to Ajax for two campaigns where he featured 53 times and scored 22 goals.Most read in Football
