AUSTIN, Texas — The South by Southwest festival is just a day away and many festival-goers may run into some delays during peak traffic hours caused by the event.
Drivers can expect for most delays 7-9 a.m. and again 4:30-7 p.m. It’s best to prepare early to give yourself some extra time. During big events in Austin, it’s always advised to look into ride share options instead of driving your own vehicle for traffic and safety reasons. SXSW has partnered with SuperShuttle Austin and Enterprise to assist travelers coming in from the airport.
To help make travel around the festival easier, SXSW has a shuttle transportation option available to the event’s attendees. Although most of the festival’s showcases are within walking distance to one another, free SXSW shuttle services are there for convenience. TheTrack the shuttleThe City of Austin will close off certain streets for better mobility around SXSW. The Austin Police Department reiterated that road barriers are to be expected and to keep an eye out.
There will be road closures in the downtown area, so be sure to watch out for these road barriers. They’re in place to ensure your safety and that of others.
