More rain is forecast in Spain after devastating floods hit the Valencia region last week
An ‘extreme’ red weather warning has been issued for Barcelona today, Monday, November 4, for heavy rain, only days after flash floods killed over 210 people in Spain . Aemet, the country’s weather agency, has issued an alert for up to 180mm of rain in 12 hours.
Posting on X, Aemet’s Catalonia account said: “RED WARNING | Barcelona Coastline. Extreme danger due to torrential rain: a very intense downpour has left 81 l/m² at El Prat airport. In Baix Llobregat, more than 180 l/m² can accumulate in 24 hours. Be very careful! Do not travel unless strictly necessary!”An orange warning for rain is in force for Tarragona, while yellow warnings for rain and storms are in place for large parts of the north east.
By Wednesday all warnings have been removed for mainland Spain. However a yellow rain warning remains for Menorca.
