After its double DNF in Singapore, Alpine is now back ahead of McLaren by 13 points, after Esteban Ocon scored a superb fourth, and Fernando Alonso took seventh. Aston Martin equaled its best race finish of 2022 with Vettel in sixth and so netted eight points. That now lifts it just seven points behind Alfa Romeo in the battle for sixth in the championship. Alfa Romeo has scored just one point in the last nine events. It also lifts Aston Martin 11 clear of Haas and AlphaTauri, who now appear destined to scrap over eighth in the standings.
