The Nottinghamshire Football Association are investigating a claim that a Sunday League player inserted a ‘finger or multiple fingers’ into the anus of an opponent during a match.
A message from the FA’s discipline team about the alleged incident has been leaked, which says it took place on January 8.Advertisement The leaked message also shows they are seeking witnesses who were at the match, with a request for a statement form to be distributed to coaches, players and spectators.It reads: “It has been reported to us that during a match between [home team] and [away team], a player allegedly inserted his finger into an opposition player’s anus.”Nottinghamshire FA have confirmed it is aware of an incident being reported, and said it was currently under investigation.
Meanwhile, in rugby union, England’s Joe Marler was sent off and given a ten-week ban for grabbing Wales captain Alun Wyn Jones’ testicles during a Six Nations game in 2020. And, in rugby league, former Australia international John Hopoate was suspended by the NRL for 12 weeks after broadcast footage showed him inserting his fingers into the anuses of three opponents in one match, while playing for Wests Tigers against North Queensland Cowboys back in 2001.
