Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) held off a vote to hold Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg in contempt of Congress for allegedly failing to respond to a congressional subpoena.
, Jordan revealed what he claimed were “never-before-released” documents contained in the House Judiciary Committee’s subpoena, which he dubbed the the “FACEBOOK FILES” and asserted “PROVE that Facebook and Instagram censored posts” and altered their content moderation policies as a result of “unconstitutional pressure” from the Biden Administration.
Jordan also posted an email from the same month from Facebook president for global affairs Nick Clegg, addressing a message from Biden’s former senior advisor Andy Slavitt, who was allegedly “outraged” the platform did not remove a meme with the caption: “Did you or a loved one take the covid vaccine? You may be entitled…”—according to the documents, Clegg argued at the time that removing the post would “represent a significant incursion into traditional boundaries of free expression.
