BOSTON — Justin Turner insists he is enjoying his return to the East Coast. But it sounds like the wound has not completely healed.
After signing with the Boston Red Sox in December , Turner indicated “business decisions” had prompted the parting of ways and that he was under the impression the Dodgers were making decisions aimed at re-setting their payroll under the Competitive Balance Tax. The Dodgers have indeed exceeded the CBT threshold again this season, the Trevor Bauer decision in late December having assured that. In contrast to the two-year, $21.7 million deal Turner signed in Boston, the Dodgers made just a one-year commitment to Martinez.
“I’ve worn plenty of uniforms in my career. It wasn’t like I was a Dodger my whole life,” Turner said Friday. “It was probably different for Kenley putting on a Braves uniform last year. The Dodger uniform was the only one he’d ever worn. I’d worn Reds, Orioles, Mets then Dodgers now here. Yeah, I was a long time with the Dodgers. But it wasn’t my only franchise.”“There was no doubt that was a turning point in my career.
