For restaurateur Rocco Whalen, life is about a couple of doors – one closing on Fahrenheit in the city’s Tremont neighborhood while the other is about to open in the heart of Cleveland – Public Square.

Rocco Whalen is getting ready to close Fahrenheit in the Tremont neighborhood and open in Public Square.CLEVELAND, Ohio –

Whalen is banking on more than pride, though. The restaurant will be adjacent to the 600-plus foot tower that will hold Sherwin-Williams’ headquarters. Opening is slated for end of 2024 or beginning of 2025, he said. And those are workers who will be, well, hungry. It will be the biggest of his restaurants, topping more than 12,000 square feet. He said he kept everything local, from the Northeast Ohio-based design firm to the trades, developer and construction management team.

John Q’s Public Bar & Grille opened around 1979 and became a popular dining destination downtown. Over time, it shortened its name and then closed June 15, 2013 – almost a decade exactly before the doors are set to open again.
