The Fairbanks North Star Borough has announced its clean-up schedule for the transfer sites.
The process will begin on Monday, May 2 with Farmers Loop East, and will involve one site every day until May 9.Sites will be closed while being cleaned, which could take between a few hours and a whole day.According to Brian Dianoski, Solid Waste Collection District Manager with the borough, the month of May sees the largest influx of debris at the transfer sites each year. “I think it chalks up to residents cleaning out their stuff... so we want it to look nice for them,” he said.
“Basically, the snow goes and the trash shows. We do a deep clean twice a year, once in spring and once in the fall. We’re trying to spruce up the transfer sites before Clean Up Day on May 14th,” Dianoski added.
