It started on Friday when police were called to investigate an accident at the intersection of Maple and East Bridge streets, just before 7:30 a.m.
The driver and his male passenger climbed from the overturned vehicle and ran from the scene. Police pursued them on foot, taking the driver into custody a short time later in West Sadsbury Township.
Arrested was Kyle Laird, 25, of West Sadsbury Township for multiple criminal and traffic offenses. His male accomplice remains at large. He is being held in the Chester County Prison. Police were on the avenues investigating reports of two men, wearing dark clothing and carrying a red/dark colored backpack, walking the avenues and acting suspiciously just before 7 a.m. One report had both actors wearing face coverings/masks. Minutes later, police received a report of a stolen vehicle from Third Avenue.
