Family of Scots pensioner missing for eight months notified after body find at beauty spot
The family of a pensioner missing for eight months have been notified following the discovery of a body at a Perth beauty spot. Emergency services were called to the Kinnoull Hill area of Perth around 1pm on Friday, 3 February.
Police probing the death have notified the family of John Baikie who was reported missing in May 2022. The 75-year-old, who was described as living a 'generally solitary lifestyle' had been last seen on CCTV in the city centre on Tuesday, February 8 2022 and reported missing three months later. Officers told reporters at the time that it was "not unusual for him not to be seen for fairly long periods of time" and that he is believed to regularly travel around the country. Formal identification is yet to take place.
John is described as being 5ft 9in tall with short grey or white hair. He was last seen wearing dark coloured clothing and carrying a distinctive yellow or green backpack. A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 1pm on Friday, 3 February, 2023, police were called to the Kinnoull Hill area of Perth, following the discovery of a body. There are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances. Formal identification has yet to take place, but the family of John Baikie, who was reported missing in May 2022, have been informed.”READ MORE:
