Lucas was diagnosed with a cancerous brain tumour a week before his 10th birthday in April.
His father Jamie, from Oakham, Rutland, said his son had been accepted for a trial of a new treatment in the US.Lucas was diagnosed with Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma , following treatment at Nottingham's Queen's Medical Centre and the Leicester Royal Infirmary.His father Jamie said Finding Neuro - a charity that raises funds for clinical trials focusing on neurological conditions - had put the family in touch with the US drug company behind the trial following the diagnosis.
David Mulligan, CEO of Finding Neuro, said: "Trials are just that - they are trying to see if this treatment works or not.
