Many are now trying to decide whether to forgo their main livelihood, growing and selling crops, to instead collect insurance payouts for leaving fields fallow. The variables are complex and the stakes shift daily. Companies from Deere & Co. to Corteva, which sell goods to farmers, have a rocky few months ahead as a result.
