The Credit Union 1 branch on DeBarr Road was robbed in July and again on Monday, according to separate statements from the FBI.
Federal authorities say a man robbed the DeBarr Road branch of Credit Union 1 on Monday, nearly a month and a half after a person with a similar appearance conducted a robbery at the same branch last month.
The FBI issued separate alerts about each incident. Most recently, a man entered the credit union Monday afternoon and presented a demand note that “threatened harm to individuals in the bank if the demands were not met,” the agency said Tuesday. The suspect was described by witnesses as approximately 5 feet, 11 inches or 6 feet tall and 170 pounds, with a raspy voice. He was wearing a blue sweatshirt and sunglasses during the robbery.
Last month, a man walked into the same branch and presented a demand note, “displayed what was believed to be the handle of a handgun, and threatened use of a firearm,” the FBI said in aThat suspect was described by witnesses at the time as having black hair, a mustache, a mole near the side of his top lip, and a deep voice.
FBI spokeswoman Chloe Martin on Tuesday said she could not discuss how much, if any, money was stolen in either robbery due to standard policy.“Both bank robberies are ongoing investigations,” she said. “We do recognize the similarities but we can’t say conclusively it’s the same person.” Anyone with information about either robbery can contact the FBI Anchorage Field Office at 907-276-4441 or
