Officials looking for any new victims of Dr. Mona Ghosh, a Hoffman Estates doctor recently indicted for health care fraud.
The FBI is asking for the public’s help in finding additional victims of a Hoffman Estates doctor who was recently indicted on 13 counts of health care fraud after allegedly bilking Medicaid and multiple health care programs out of nearly $800,000, officials said.have been created to identify any more victims of Dr. Mona Ghosh, according to a statement from FBI spokesperson Siobhan Johnson.Ghosh is a licensed physician who owned and operated Progressive Women’s health care, S. C.
“Targeting government and private health care programs relied on by the public to maintain their well-being is a serious crime,” said Acting U.S. Attorney Morris Pasqual in a statement from the U.S. attorney’s office. “In addition to submitting false claims, the allegation that defendant performed medically unnecessary procedures to enrich herself is particularly disturbing,” Pasqual said in the statement. “This office will continue to work closely with our law enforcement partners to prosecute those who steal from health care programs and who needlessly put patients at risk.”
The FBI believes there may be many more unidentified victims, Johnson said in the statement, adding that victims may be eligible for certain services, restitution, and rights under federal state law.
