State updated its deadlines to match federal tax filing and payment extensions for disaster relief
San Diego County residents and businesses now have until June 17 to file individual and business tax returns and pay federal taxes, the Internal Revenue Service announced Tuesday. Hours later, the California Franchise Tax Board also announced state and individual business tax filings and payments are also due June 17. “This extension offers much-needed relief to taxpayers who were victims of flooding in San Diego County,” said State Controller and FTB Chair Malia M. Cohen.
The state has also announced a deadline extension: As with previous disasters, the California Franchise Tax Board also extended state filing deadlines to match federal deadlines. This state extension to file and pay includes pass-through entity elective tax payments that are normally due March 15. Extensions: If you expect you'll need an extension for federal tax filings beyond June 17, it's best to request that electronically by April 15.
