WILLIAMSPORT – A Snyder County man has been accused of illegally purchasing 13 handguns by not telling the sellers they were for someone else.

Dalon Sass-Maxwell, 25, of Port Trevorton, is charged in a nine-count indictment unsealed Monday in U.S. Middle District Court with false statements in the acquisition of firearms. He is accused of purchasing a total of six Glock 9mm pistols on Dec. 12, 2020, Feb. 9, 2021, and Nov. 3, 2021, from Young’s Sporting Goods and two Glocks on Feb. 9, 2021, and Nov. 21, 2021, from The Little Sportsman Shop, both in Northumberland.

He also is charged with purchasing on Oct. 27 and Nov. 10, 2021, four handguns from Gator Guns in Shamokin Dam and a pistol on Nov. 14, 2021, from the National Sporting Companies in State College. The government seeks forfeiture of the guns if Sass-Maxwell is found guilty. The indictment does not state for whom the straw purchases were made.Sass-Maxwell has been released on personal recognizance
