Allen Releford, 32, was charged last month with being a felon in possession of a firearm.

On Monday, a federal magistrate found Releford posed a danger to the community and ordered him detained in Santa Rita Jail pending trial, records show.

During the struggle Releford suffered a bloody nose and two officers received minor injuries, prosecutors said. Afterwards Releford told them, “my apologies for resisting,” and explained he didn’t want them to find the pistol, according to court records. Releford took a plea deal and received 14 years, shortly after his 18th birthday, according to court records. His attorney, Assistant Federal Public Defender Whayeun “Chloe” Kim, wrote in court records he’s spent most of his life behind bars but took classes and therapy programs in prison.
