The founder of an iconic Philadelphia cheesesteak restaurant and his son were charged Friday with tax evasion and other related offenses for allegedly shielding $8 million in receipts from the Internal Revenue Service.

Prosecutors said that the Lucidonios, both of New Jersey, engaged in the alleged activities for 10 years, ending in 2016. When a franchising rights dispute erupted in 2015, prosecutors said that the Lucidonios attempted to amend their prior year tax returns,"concerned that their tax fraud scheme would be revealed."
